CW RealTime: 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600 - First Look

The middleweight wars are once again raging. Honda is on top with its CBR600RR, having edged out the revamped Yamaha YFZ-R6 in our recent 2×2 comparo. But now Suzuki charges into the fray, guns blazing, with a heavily revised GSX-R600.

The new bike’s features address the shortcomings of the 2007 model. It gets a revised engine to deliver more power and better response. The chassis gets an electronically controlled steering damper, lighter wheels and edgy, three-headlight styling. These and myriad other detail changes could give the Gixxer 6 the advantage.

But there’s only one way to see how good a bike is: Riding it. We sent ace Road Test Editor Don Canet to the Misano World Circuit in Italy to get some seat time on the bike at its press launch.
