2020 Kawasaki W800/Café

Throwback to the ’60s.

2020 Kawasaki CaféKawasaki

The 2020 Kawasaki W800 is a throwback to the W1 of 1966—in other words, a modern take on an old classic. As covered in our first look, the W800 was reintroduced for the 2020 model year (the last generation was produced from 2011–2016) with the original’s style, but with technical upgrades that were seen on the Street and Café models. It flaunts chrome fenders, rubber fork gaiters, tank-side badging, and tuck and roll seat for vintage styling. Modern amenities include tech like an assist and slipper clutch, ABS, and LED lighting. It is powered by the same 773cc parallel-twin engine that is seen on the Café model. Throughout its history this standard motorcycle has seen success as a very capable commuter because of its civilized, reliable personality.

2020 Kawasaki W800/Café Reviews, Comparisons, And Competition

Shopping for a modern classic? This model is more classic in its styling than the W800 Café that was introduced by Kawasaki in 2019, as stated in our first look.

What’s old is made new again in other models across the world with the Royal Enfield INT650 and Triumph Bonneville T120.

Kawasaki W800/Café Updates For 2020

The W800 also comes in a café form with the W800 Café. It shares the same updated chassis design as the Café and sports the same new headlight, but has a 19-inch front wheel (Café version has 18-inch). The previous generation’s rear drum brake has also been replaced by an ABS-equipped disc.

The W800 comes in Cardinal Candy Red. Pricing starts at $9,199 for the W800 and $9,799 for the W800 Café.
